Abdul Khaleque Withdraws Resignation, Reaffirms Commitment To Congress

GUWAHATI: Congress Lok Sabha member from Barpeta Abdul Khaleque wihdrew his resignation from the Indian National Congress on March 20 after “satisfactory” discussions with the party’s central leadership.

Khaleque had tendered his resignation on March 15th citing grievances and issues that had remained unaddressed by the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President and All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of the state.

In his letter to Indian National Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Khaleque reaffirmed his commitment to work under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. He expressed satisfaction after holding fruitful discussions with KC Venugopal, the General Secretary Organisation (GSO) of the party.

As a sitting Lok Sabha member and two-time MLA, Khaleque emphasised that it is the duty and responsibility of every democratic and progressive individual to bolster the Congress party, considering the prevailing circumstances.
