GUWAHATI: The prime suspect in the alleged abduction of a young woman, reportedly the granddaughter of BJP MLA Ramakanta Deuri, was arrested following a coordinated operation by Guwahati City Police and Golaghat Police on the night of March 17.

Armanur Rahman, the alleged mastermind behind the abduction, was taken into custody after a thorough investigation. The case, registered under Morigaon PS Case No. 78/25, involves serious charges under Sections 140(3) and 111(2)(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to the FIR filed by the victim’s family, the young woman was forcibly kidnapped by a group of individuals.
As part of the investigation, four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, including a 17-year-old girl, who has since been granted bail by the Juvenile Court. The other suspects, Bhabhajit Medhi, Fizulat Rahman, and Abinash Thakuria Rahman, are currently in police custody. Additionally, Fizulat Rahman, the father of Armanur, had been arrested earlier.
The victim has been successfully recovered with the help of Guwahati City Police and Golaghat Police. Further investigations are ongoing.
