GUWAHATI: In what has been probably the only consistent in the inconsistent rock and metal scene of Guwahati, the 9th edition of Fireball is scheduled to be held this Sunday, the 24th of February at Shilpagram.

This year's event promises to be twice as big and, as usual, and is set to witness metal-heads across all ages.

Partnered with G-Shock and G Plus, this year, Fireball has been set up to take place in four other cities alongside Guwahati - Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Shillong. The Guwahati edition will feature Texas-based metallers, Polyphia, for whom Guwahati will be the last stop on a five-city India tour.

Also on the bill are Mumbai based metallers Zygnema, Guwahati’s favourite prog-metal act Silver Tears now based in Mumbai, alongside Modern Metal Poster-boys Tyrrhenian and Blues and Rock Veterans, Voodoo Child from Guwahati.

A brainchild of David Koch, an experienced promoter of the metal circuit in the city, Fireball has managed to garner a cult status for itself as one of the most popular metal festivals in the state. "I had started Fireball as a passion and I am really happy that it has grown bigger over the past few years. This is good news for the scene here too, as there are hardly any dedicated rock or metal gigs nowadays. The scene needs to be promoted and talent needs to be showcased no matter what the number of fans. At the end of the day, it is an art, a creative expression and it will never die down."
