84 Active Dengue Cases Reported In Assam

 

GUWAHATI: Assam has reported a significant number of cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE), Dengue, and Malaria from January 1 to August 24 this year. The data indicates the prevalence of these vector-borne diseases in the state during this period.

The figures reveal that Assam faced a total of 441 JE cases, resulting in 26 unfortunate deaths. The Case Fatality Rate (CFR) for JE stands at 5.9 per cent, underlining the severity of the disease and the challenges it poses to public health.

Dengue, on the other hand, saw a higher number of cases with a total of 3,829 reported cases; however, the number of deaths due to dengue remained relatively low at 4. The CFR for Dengue is recorded at 0.1 per cent, highlighting the importance of timely medical intervention.

The report also indicates that there were 283 reported cases of Malaria during this period, thankfully with no reported deaths.

As of August 24, the number of positive cases for these vector-borne diseases is 85. The solitary active JE case is in Bongaigaon. 

As far as dengue is concerned, Karbi Anglong reported a staggering 56 cases. Moreover, Dima Hasao reported 18 cases, Golaghat recorded 4 cases, Hojai reported 5 cases and Sonitpur recorded one case.

Fortunately, there are no reported malaria cases as of yesterday.
