80% Work Of Guwahati-North Guwahati Bridge Over Brahmaputra Completed

GUWAHATI: Nearly 80% work on the bridge connecting Guwahati-North Guwahati has been completed, informed the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma on December 19. The Chief Minister shared pictures of the under-construction bridge.

"Bringing both banks closer! The Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge over Brahmaputra has achieved nearly 80% progress and will be open to public on time," tweeted CM Sarma.

Talking to GPlus, a resident of Amingaon said," It is good that they are constructing the bridge. Time required to travel will now be lessened significantly."

Another local from the area, while speaking to GPlus said," This was a much-needed project for better traffic facilitation and travel. But, how soon we can expect the bridge remains to be seen."

Earlier, it was announced that the project is expected to be inaugurated by Diwali 2024. The total cost of the project is estimated at ₹2608.68 crore.

Also, due to fewer rains this season and the low levels of the river water, the construction work is being expedited at a faster pace.
