6 Higher Secondary Students Expelled For Cheating in Assam

GUWAHATI: The Higher Secondary examination has just started on February 12 and as many as 6 students in Dhubri District were caught cheating.

According to reports, the students were caught cheating at the Chapar Higher Secondary School.

It is to be mentioned that in order to prevent students from malpractices in examination centers, Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) have said that students caught cheating, carrying mobile phones and disobeying invigilators would face a suspension for one year straight.

The decision was taken after malpractices were reported from many centers in the previous years.

AHSEC officials said  that a special committee of the AHSEC will examine the cheating cases and might extend the period of expulsion.This year, a total of 2,34,809 students are set to appear for the Higher Secondary examinations. 

Out of the total 175,175 students will appear in the Arts stream, 40,588 in Science stream while 18,178 students will sit for exams from the Commerce stream for class 12 examinations.

Meanwhile as many as 21 students were expelled in Dhubri while 2 in Darrang, 1 in Goalpara, 5 in Hailakandi, 3 in Lakhimpur and 4 in Nagaon district in the first day of HSLC exam.
