GUWAHATI: A consignment of 5000 Assam lemons (kaji nemu) and approximately 500 kg of lablab beans (urohi) was successfully exported to London on Wednesday.
The virtual presence of Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora at the flag-off ceremony highlighted the state's growing prominence in the international market.
The lablab beans, a product of the farmers associated with the Dihingparia Farmer Producer Company (FPC) in Nitaipukhuri, Sivasagar district, were accompanied by special-quality lemons produced in Tinsukia district.
Taking to the social media platform X, Minister Atul Bora expressed his enthusiasm about the progress made by Assam's farmers in the international market and stated, “Delighted to virtually attend the flag-off ceremony as 500 kg Lablab Bean (Urohi) and 5,000 Assam Lemon (Kaji Nemu) were exported to #London from #Assam today.”
He credited the success to the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, under whose guidance the agricultural landscape of Assam has witnessed a positive transformation.
"The farmers of Assam have been able to foray into the foreign markets. We are confident that by further increasing this trend of crop exports in the coming days, we will be able to initiate a new revolution in the agricultural economy of Assam under the visionary leadership of the HCM," further stated Minister Bora.
