GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has given the green light for land settlement in 16 districts, benefitting indigenous and landless families. The initiative, a part of the ambitious Mission Basundhara 2.0, is set to impact Tinsukia, Sonitpur, Dibrugarh, Dhemaji, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Nagaon, Barpeta, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Bongaigaon, Goalpara, Nalbari, and Dhubri districts.

The cabinet has approved land settlement for a total of 4,444 indigenous, landless families across both urban and rural areas within the aforementioned districts. This move aims to empower and uplift marginalised communities by providing them with access to valuable land resources.

The developmental initiative ensures equitable distribution of resources and opportunities. By settling land in favour of indigenous families, Assam seeks to foster socio-economic development in these regions.

This decision aligns with the broader vision of creating inclusive growth and ensuring that indigenous communities have the necessary means to prosper.
