41% of Gamers in India are female as per a recent study across the country.
There are almost 568 million gamers in India, amounting to around 40% of the population, with 50% of gamers falling into the age bracket of 18-30 years and a male-to-female ratio of roughly 60:40 with 41% female gamers, according to the State of India Gaming Report by Lumikai and Google.
The share of gamers from non-metro cities increased from 57% in 2022 to 66% in 2023, as the average gaming time also increased by 20% to 10-12 hours per week per gamer with users attributing the need to relax and socialise with other gamers as the key reason, while completion of a game’s objectives and seeing too many ads were quoted as the top reasons to stop playing a game.
According to the report, around 25% are of Indian gamers are paying users, with the number of paying users seeing an increase of 17% compared to the previous year, as the gaming industry clocked $3.1 Billion in 2023 and is expected to hit $7.5 Billion by 2028, with the report anticipating that the industry will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 20%, driven primarily by growth of in-app purchases in casual and midcore games and a rise of in-game advertising revenues.
