It has been over 36 hours since the incident occured.

A senior police official told GPlus, “The search is still going on. We have been on it since the time we received the information. We haven’t found the boy yet, but we are still searching for him.”

According to the boy’s mother, he was returning home on a two-wheeler with his father when the incident occurred. It was raining heavily at the time, and due to low visibility and slippery roads, the two-wheeler skidded, causing Avilash to fall into the drain. His father, who works in a garage, was coming back after closing the shop.

A resident of Jyotinagar told GPlus, "We heard that the father caught him by his t-shirt, but he slipped out and was swept away by the gushing water in the drain, which carried him along with a banana tree."

Mrigen Sarania, Mayor of GMC, said, "The water from the drain goes to Choonsali and Chandmari. Drains are being dug up to find the boy. All departments are actively working on it."

At the scene, an official from the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) told GPlus, "We were informed around 12 AM and have been searching for the boy since then."
