GUWAHATI: Ahead of the upcoming panchayat elections, 34 candidates from Kamrup Metropolitan district have been elected unopposed. These include 29 candidates for Gaon Panchayat (village council) member posts and 5 candidates for Anchalik Panchayat (regional council) member posts.

According to official data, the Jalukbari sub-division saw unopposed victories in five Gaon Panchayats and two Anchalik Panchayats. Notable among these are 2 No. Garal Gaon Panchayat (Wards 1 and 4), 4 No. Dharapur (Ward 6), 3 No. Kahikuchi (Ward 4), and 5 No. Azara (Ward 5). The Ramcharani Anchalik Panchayat also witnessed unopposed wins for representatives from Garal and Dharapur Panchayats.
Meanwhile, in the Dimoria sub-division, 24 Gaon Panchayats and 3 Anchalik Panchayats recorded unopposed wins. Among the wards that went uncontested are:
-Amching (Wards 4, 7),
-Digaru (Wards 5, 8, 10),
-Barkhat (Wards 1, 6, 9, 10),
-Baruabari (Wards 2, 3, 8),
-Sonapur (Wards 3, 9, 10),
-Tetelia (Wards 4, 7, 9),
-Norotap (Ward 9),
-Khetri (Ward 3),
-Maloubaria (Ward 10),
-Dhopguri (Wards 5, 10),
-Topatoli (Ward 2).
In the regional councils, unopposed victories were confirmed for members representing Chandrapur (Ward 8), Dhopguri, and Digaru in the respective Anchalik Panchayats.
