The Embassy of India disclosed that, in addition to the existing two MBBS seats reserved in the Gauhati Medical College (GMC) for Bhutanese students, an additional three seats have been earmarked under the guidelines set by the National Medical Council and NEET.

Consequently, there will now be a total of five MBBS seats reserved exclusively for Bhutanese students in medical colleges across Assam.

The Royal Civil Service Commission of the Royal Government of Bhutan, in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Thimphu, will oversee the process of shortlisting eligible candidates for these reserved seats.

This initiative exemplifies the robust collaboration between India and Bhutan in the realm of STEM education and skill development.

However, in a weekly cabinet meeting in January, it was announced that two seats already will be allocated in Nalbari Medical College, one in FAAMC, Barpeta, and two seats in a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) college.
