GUWAHATI: Paltan Bazar Police arrested 26 Myanmar Nationals on Sunday, September 12, following raids at a city hotel. The raid was conducted at a hotel in AK Azar Road of Rehabari.
Guwahati Police said they arrested 16 male and 10 female Myanmarese citizens staying at the hotel, all of whom had entered the country illegally. The FIR filed in connection with the incident says they had obtained forged Indian documents that identified them as Indian citizens.
The details of the case were confirmed to G Plus by Paltan Bazar PS Officer-in-Charge D Phukan.
"We were responding to an intelligence input,” the OC told G Plus about the raid. “We are investigating the matter to ascertain further linkages in this case,” he added.
