21 Bangladeshi immigrants were deported from Sutarkandi by the Karimganj Police on January 19. They were taken back to a detention camp in Silchar, to the headquarters of the neighbouring Cachar district which is more than 300 kms away from Guwahati. The immigrants were caught after illegally entering India and were said to be detained for violation of the Passport Act.
Among the 21 immigrants, 15 of them were discerned in Karimganj and other six were from Cachar.
