GUWAHATI: Taking a dig at the Central government, former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that Prime Minister Modi's popularity has shrunk since 2019 as compared to 2014.

Gogoi said that in 2014 elections, Modi had his "Joi Jatra" but in 2019, it will be his "Shasan Jatra" as the party lost elections in Karnataka, Punjab, Rajastha, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh 2 years ago.

He further alleged that the party is using money and communal tactics to divide society to win the elections.

"They are distrubing the fabric of Assam by dividing people in the name of religion and language. It will be a war for us to protect our identity and not become a second Tripura," said Gogoi.
