200 New Vande Bharat Trains To Be Introduced Across India

GUWAHATI: During the Lok Sabha session, the Centre announced a ₹2.25 lakh crore initiative to revolutionise rail travel across the country.

As part of this transformative plan, 200 new Vande Bharat trains, 100 Amrit Bharat trains, 50 Namo Bharat rapid rail services, and 17,500 general non-AC coaches will be introduced over the next two to three years which was announced on February 1.

The budget allocates a record ₹2,52,000 crore as gross budgetary support to the Ministry of Railways for the financial year 2025-26, marking the second consecutive year of such significant funding.

Speaking to the media, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted Indian Railways' rapid progress, stating that it is on track to become the second-highest freight-carrying railway in the world, with cargo volumes expected to reach 1.6 billion tonnes by the end of this fiscal year.
