GUWAHATI: Twenty Kalaripayattu players from Assam have been selected to participate in the 38th National Games, set to be held in Uttarakhand.
These athletes have earned their spots based on their performances at the 16th National Kalaripayattu Championship, which took place in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, from August 9 to 11.
Assam emerged as the second-best performing team in the championship, securing a total of 13 medals. The medal tally included one gold, six silver, and six bronze medals.
The players selected for the National Games include Paragjyoti Deka, Ashikur Rahman, Akib R. Sangma, Imran Ali, Monjoy Chetry, Rahul Ghorsane, Sarfaraz Ali, and Riki Kharka. In addition to these eight players, 12 others have also qualified for the National Games based on their national rankings.
