14 arrested officials sent to judicial custody

The Court of Special Judge, Assam on Tuesday remanded the 14 ACS, APS and allied service officials – arrested for securing jobs through payment of money in the cash-for-jobs scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) – to judicial custody. Dibrugarh police led by Additional Superintendent of Police Surjeet Singh Panesar produced them before the court after the expiry of 14-day police custody.

Investigators will produce three more arrested officials tomorrow followed by another four on Thursday after completion of the respective police remand period.

A few bail petitions of the arrested government officials are likely to be heard tomorrow by the court. The case diary in connection with the case has also been called for tomorrow.

Meanwhile, 10 of the arrested ACS and APS officials have been placed under suspension by the government.
