GUWAHATI: As many as 12 artists from Assam are set to be honoured with Sangeet Akademi Awards, post the official announcement. Among the notable awardees from Assam is Dulal Roy, who will be honoured with the prestigious title of Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellow.

Additionally, 11 individuals have been recognized with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for their outstanding contributions to various fields of performing arts. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has extended his warm congratulations to the winners from Assam of the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for the years 2022-23 by praising their dedication and commitment to their respective crafts.
The recipients of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for 2022 include Gobinda Saikia (Sattriya), Karuna Borah (Ankiya Bhaona), Gunakar Dev Goswami (Direction), Tarawati Bori (Folk/Traditional Music), and Dr. Lakshahira Das for his overall contribution to performing arts. In the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for 2023, Bhaben Borbayan has been acknowledged for his exemplary work in Sattriya dance.

Furthermore, individuals honoured with the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for 2022 include Dimpee Baishya (Sattriya), Mukunda Nath (Mime), and Binita Devi (Puppetry). Similarly, the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for 2023 has been bestowed upon Meghranjani Medhi (Kathak) and Mukunda Saikia (Sattriya) for their outstanding contributions to their respective fields.
