GUWAHATI: An online betting racket was uncovered by the Crime Branch of Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) when a team from Paltan Bazaar police station busted a group of bettors gambling on the ongoing T20 Assam Cup Cricket at Nehru Stadium.

The crackdown, carried out last night on September 10, resulted in the arrest of 12 individuals found actively engaged in online betting activities during the match. The arrested bettors have been identified as:
1. Navneet Mishra (27) - Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh
2. Aman Rajak (22) - Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh
3. Ankush Rana (21) - Vasantkunj, Delhi
4. Arbin Singh (24) - Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
5. Rubi Gupta (25) - Maligaon, Assam
6. Niraj Mishra (36) - Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh
7. Shivam Kakkar (22) - Rohini, Delhi
8. Debaprasad Bhoi (29) - Madhupatna, Odisha
9. Mehboob Alam (27) - Jamtara, Jharkhand
10. Monzur Ahmed (18) - Geetanagar, Assam
11. Rashid Ahmed (32) - Kampur, Nagaon, Assam
12. Nur Nabi (30) - Koyakuchi, Barpeta, Assam
The police confirmed that the suspects were found using mobile devices to place illegal bets on the cricket match. Legal action has been initiated against them as investigations continue.
