GUWAHATI: A 10-month-old infant from Lakhimpur has tested positive for Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in Assam and is currently being treated at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.

An official of Dibrugarh administration talking to GPlus said, “One case has been detected in AMCH and we are taking all precautionary measures, so that the virus does not spread.”
Speaking to GPlus, AMCH Superintendent Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bhuyan said, "A 10-month-old infant has been diagnosed with the HMPV virus. The child showed symptoms similar to the common cold and tested positive for the virus. However, he is now fine and playing."
