The report also revealed the happiness levels of young people below the age of 30 years, which showed that India ranked 127 in ‘Ranking of Happiness - the Young (Age below 30): 2021-2023’, which was topped by Lithuania, followed by Israel, Serbia, Iceland and Denmark in the top 5.

However, India’s position showed a slight improvement in the ‘Ranking of Happiness - the Old (age 60 and above): 2021-2023’, where the country stood at 121st position, just behind Bangladesh’s 120th.

The situation raises concerns about the mental well-being of Indians in average and the efficacy of mental health care and treatment in the country, which has been battling various problems including poverty, unemployment, inflation and severe environmental degradation.
