Their journey began in the year 2013. The institute commenced operations from a small room with no support at all.
The Institute provides coaching for IIT-JEE/ NEET/ AIIMS/KVPY/CEE and BOARD results. The Academy aims at nurturing students from Class IX onwards to dropper students to develop a competitive mind to face various examinations.
“I had very few students and I taught them lessons in such a way that a small batch of 5 students transformed into 150 students the next year,” said Lalan Kumar, Founder and Managing Director of Lalan’s Coaching.
A graduate from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology in Chemical Engineering, when Lalan first started teaching students, he realised how much work had to be done.
“I saw that there was scope for improvement in this region and the selection rate could be improved,” he said.
Since then, his institute has encouraged students to work hard and has put in its own share of efforts in ensuring good results for those enrolled. The state saw a motivated spirit very soon as people began aiming to soar higher in technical and medical fields.
“One of our students scored the second rank in just the first year of Assam State Medical Entrance Examination,” said Lalan Kumar.
The team that runs the institute faced a lot of difficulties and financial problems but ultimately made it through each obstacle. The Institute now has branches all over Guwahati now and gives the best selection rate in Guwahati.
“During lockdown, a lot of our students came to us with concerns over not being able to study at home and we then started online classes and online interaction and the programme is now proving to be successful,” said the founder of the institute.
The institute is now teaching about 500 students from Guwahati and outside the city. They have made all coaching facilities available for students on a mobile application and students have given them positive feedback.
“When a student comes to us with dreams, we treat them like family. We know that Aspirants come to us with dreams and we make fulfilment of their goals our sole aim,” says Lalan Kumar on the motto of his institute.
In a move to encourage students, Lalan's Integrated Academy and Lalan's Coaching Classes is also providing special free engineering/medical coaching this year for intelligent yet economically backward students. Alongside this, they are also giving out free smart phones to these students for online coaching to help them progress academically despite financial stringency.
