WATCH: Why Is Lawrence Bishnoi Targeting Salman Khan?

GUWAHATI: Lawrence Bishnoi, an alleged gangster who has been in jail since 2014, has been issuing death threats to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan for a few years now. All threats stem from a poaching case which dates back to 1998.

During the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain, Khan was accused of killing two blackbucks, an antelope species held in religious fervour by the Bishnoi community, due to their cultural significance.

In 1998, Khan was sentenced to five years in prison for the alleged crime, but he spent only a week behind bars as his sentence was suspended.

Right now, Bishnoi has reportedly issued directives to his gang, as they continue to pass on the former’s demands to Khan. According to reports, Bishnoi wants Khan to visit their shrine, issue a public apology for the alleged killing of the blackbucks, and pay a hefty fine of ₹5 crores.

This is not the first time Khan has been threatened by the alleged Punjab-born gangster. Back in 2018, he had first threatened to “kill Khan in Jodhpur” during a court appearance. Following up in 2022, he sent a threatening letter to Khan’s father, Salim Khan. The following year, a threatening email was also reportedly sent to Khan’s manager as well.

Recent incidents have also linked Bishnoi to the alleged killing of former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique, as his gang members have claimed responsibility for the same.

The story continues, and updates are bound to follow as the situation unfolds.
