Kohli and Konstas bumped shoulders while walking across, prompting both players to exchange heated words
GUWAHATI: Virat Kohli has been fined 20% of his match fee following a shoulder barge incident with Australian debutant Sam Konstas on Thursday, December 26.

The incident took place during the fourth Test in Melbourne after the completion of the 10th over of Australia’s innings, when the players crossed paths on the pitch.
According to reports, the International Cricket Council (ICC) charged Kohli with a Level 1 offence under its Code of Conduct. He has also been reportedly handed a demerit point for the incident.
Kohli and Konstas bumped shoulders while walking across, prompting both players to exchange heated words. The situation escalated briefly before Australian teammate Usman Khawaja intervened to separate them. On-field umpires also stepped in to address the situation.
Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting criticised Kohli for initiating the confrontation. “Fielders should be nowhere near the batsman at that stage. It looked like Konstas looked up late and didn’t even know anyone was in front of him. Kohli might have a few questions to answer,” he said.
