GUWAHATI: Uttar Pradesh has the largest representation in the Lok Sabha with 80 seats. The main contest is between the ruling NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc.
The BJP fielded candidates in 75 seats, leaving five for its smaller allies. Within the INDIA bloc, the Samajwadi Party contested 62 seats, Congress 17 seats, and the Trinamool Congress one seat.
The INDIA bloc was represented by the Samajwadi Party and Congress.

INDIA bloc has surged ahead of NDA in Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was briefly trailing behind Congress candidate Ajay Rai in Varanasi, before regaining lead. Smriti Irani is trailing in Amethi, while Rahul Gandhi is leading in Rae Bareli.
Rahul Gandhi is leading by 2, 11,185 votes from Rae Bareli seat.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Rae Bareli and faces competition from BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi congratulated party candidate Imran Masood over phone. Imran Masood is leading by more than 87,000 votes in Saharanpur.
