GUWAHATI: On Saturday, April 12, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) experienced a major outage, leaving thousands of users unable to complete transactions or transfer funds.

The disruption impacted several popular platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and even some bank apps. Related to the situation, the hashtag #UPIdown is currently trending on X as users voice their concerns.
Meanwhile, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has acknowledged the outage. “NPCI is currently facing intermittent technical issues, leading to partial UPI transaction declines," the company said. "We are working to resolve the issue, and will keep you updated.”
“We regret the inconvenience caused,” NPCI added.
