GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Monday, February 14, penalised a uni-sex parlour and salon for operating without a trade licence. The GMC imposed a spot penalty of Rs 2 lakh on the salon.
The uni-sex salon, Sharon Unique Hair and Spa Salon located at AG Plaza near Mizoram House, on GS Road in Guwahati was inspected by the GMC officials and was found operating without proper documents.
"There was one complaint against them that they have been operating without a trade licence. When we asked them whether they had a cabin inside, they said they don't have one. When our lady MCPs entered inside they found a cabin. Then we saw that the cabin door opened and we found a boy who was naked and taking bath. There was also a girl inside. When we saw that and as it was ethically not right we informed the Bhangagarh Police Station. They have been operating like this for two years. We have fined them Rs 2 lakh as spot penalty," a GMC official told the local media.
