Unacademy Hosts Seminar On Learners’ Emotional And Intellectual Well-Being

Unacademy Centre Guwahati, on Wednesday, April 30, conducted its first seminar under the theme “Peak Mind: Intellectual and Emotional Well-Being of Learners”. The event brought together students, parents, and professionals for a focused discussion on mental health and academic challenges faced by learners.

The session featured Dr. Bidita Das, Assistant Professor at Handique Girls’ College and Joint Secretary of the Psychologists Association of North East India, and Phuleshwar Basumatary, Deputy Commissioner of Taxes cum Joint Commissioner of State Tax, Government of Assam, as the key speakers.

Addressing the gathering, Basumatary spoke about issues of under-confidence and the need for persistence in the face of challenges. Drawing on his own experiences, he shared practical insights with the students, encouraging them to remain steady in their goals despite setbacks.

Dr. Das, meanwhile, introduced the PERMA model, a psychological framework aimed at building and maintaining positive mental health. The model addresses key elements such as positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment.

The seminar finally concluded with an interactive session that allowed parents to raise concerns about academic anxiety, digital overuse, and behavioural distractions. Learners also highlighted difficulties such as overthinking and lack of structured learning routines.
