Two Karimganj DTO Officials Apprehended For Taking Bribe 

 

GUWAHATI: The Directorate Of Vigilance And Anti-Corruption (DVAC), Assam, apprehended two officials from the Office of the District Transport Officer (DTO) in Karimganj on December 20.

Abu Saleh Md Zakaria, an Enforcement Checker, and Sahab Uddin Tapadar, an Enforcement Inspector and the In-Charge (I/C) of DTO, were caught red-handed in an operation aimed at facilitating the free movement of vehicles owned by a complainant.

Abu Saleh Md Zakaria was trapped after accepting a bribe, allegedly in collusion with Sahab Uddin Tapadar, who is not only the I/C of DTO but also an Enforcement Inspector. The complainant, whose vehicles were at the centre of this corrupt arrangement, had approached the Directorate of Vigilance And Anti-Corruption with evidence of the illicit dealings. Following a thorough investigation, authorities set up a trap to catch the offenders in the act.

Abu Saleh Md Zakaria was caught red-handed after accepting the bribe, while Sahab Uddin Tapadar was apprehended for both demanding and accepting a bribe through his subordinate.

The accused have been apprehended and further legal proceedings are underway.
