GUWAHATI: An explosion occurred near the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi on Tuesday, prompting investigations into the cause. No casualties were reported among embassy staff.
The blast occurred around 5:20 PM and a letter had been recovered from the blast zone, as per media reports.
Two suspects have also been apprehended with the help of CCTV camera footage, reports stated.
Israel has advised its citizens in India, particularly in New Delhi, to exercise caution, with the National Security Council stating that the blast "may have been an attack," as per a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns at Israeli missions globally due to an increase in antisemitic attacks following Israel's counteroffensive against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
This event bears similarities to a small bomb detonation near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi in January 2021, which, at the time, was treated by Israeli officials as a terrorist incident despite causing no injuries.
