TMC Leader Shot Dead By Bike-borne Assailants In West Bengal

 

Police confirmed that Sarkar succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital

GUWAHATI: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s close associate Dulal Sarkar, also known as Babla, was shot dead in broad daylight by unidentified bike-borne assailants in Malda district. The incident took place on Thursday, January 2.

According to news reports, the shooting occurred in the Jhaljhalia More area, as the entire incident was captured on CCTV footage. Sarkar can be seen running for his life as a group of people approached him while he was sitting in a shop. The assailants then opened fire, shooting him multiple times at close range.

Police confirmed that Sarkar succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her despair over the incident. “Babla Sarkar has been murdered today,” she said on X. “From the beginning of TMC, he and his wife Chaitali worked hard for the party. I am so shocked and sad.”

“May God give Chaitali strength to survive and fight this battle,” Banerjee added.

The motive behind the killing is yet to be determined, and an investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend the attackers.
