GUWAHATI: A tiger has been camera-trapped in Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary, marking the first such sighting in the area.

The sanctuary, located in Assam, is a Satellite Core of the Nameri Tiger Reserve.
Assam Forest Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary tweeted, " A Proud Milestone For Assam! For the first time, a tiger has been camera-trapped in Sonai Rupai Wildlife Sanctuary, a Satellite Core of Nameri Tiger Reserve. Under the visionary leadership of HCM Dr @himantabiswa, Assam has witnessed significant strides in conservation, ensuring a healthier ecosystem for wildlife and enhancing the state’s biodiversity. Kudos to the dedicated forest team for their hard work and continued efforts in securing Assam’s wildlife heritage!"
