Three-Day State Mourning Declared In Honour Of Assam Police Martyrs

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Tuesday, July 27, declared State mourning for three days following the deaths of five Assam Police personnel during clashes at the Assam-Mizoram border at Lailapur of Cachar district on Monday.

During this period, the National flag will be flown at half-mast at all government and official buildings, and there will be no public entertainment. 

Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Silchar today and paid floral tribute to the five martyrs. "We are deeply anguished by the loss of lives of our brave @assampolice personnel. I salute their sacrifice," Sarma tweeted.

Assam Police tweeted as well, “We bow our heads in reverence and salute the brave heroes of Assam Police, who laid down their lives while protecting Assam's constitutional boundaries. We are committed to their sacrifice and their families.”
