Students of BRM Govt Law College Stuggle Due To Crisis Of Basic Amenities

GUWAHATI: Students of BRM Government Law College located in Panjabari are facing significant challenges due to a severe shortage of basic amenities. The college is struggling with issues like inadequate water supply, poorly maintained washrooms, and no electricity in the academic wing. This situation has left everyone feeling distressed and frustrated, impacting their academic activities.

Students at the college have been enduring the sweltering heat without electricity since April 5. This not only disrupts classes, but also makes it unbearable for students to study in the stifling conditions.

"It's unbearable. No electricity means no classes and sweltering heat. We're struggling to study in these conditions”, said a student of the college seeking anonymity, as he shared his frustration at the ongoing power outage. According to him, while some classes are held, for the rest only attendance is recorded.

"This is a big problem for us. There has been no electricity in our building since April 5. We have to sit in the scorching heat, and sometimes because of no electricity, our classes are dismissed," lamented the student, speaking anonymously to GPlus.

According to him, one of the two transformers has been out of service ever since it burst. Power is supplied now only to the administrative wing.

"The state of the bathrooms is appalling. Clogged toilets and foul smell make it impossible to use them. It's unhygienic and unacceptable," another student told GPlus, describing the poor condition of the washrooms in the college.

"There are two bathrooms on each floor, but none of them are in a good state. Girls' bathrooms are clogged, so we cannot even go there. They are worse than the local trains. It's so filthy, and no one even bothers to look into this matter," revealed a girl student, requesting anonymity.

Students have expressed their grievances through protests, highlighting various issues plaguing the college.

"We have been protesting for weeks, but nothing changes. It's frustrating to see our concerns ignored by the authorities," a second-year BA LLB student told GPlus.

Moreover, the lack of proper drinking water facilities adds to the woes of the college community. Despite being a basic necessity, there is no provision for clean drinking water on the premises.

"Drinking water is a basic necessity, yet we don't have access to clean water on campus. It's a struggle to stay hydrated throughout the day," a concerned student said, highlighting the absence of proper drinking water facilities at BRM Government Law College.
