Stolen Goods Worth Over ₹13 Lakh Recovered From Guwahati And Other Railway Stations In NFR, 82 Arrested

 

GUWAHATI: 82 individuals involved in thefts of passengers' belongings have been apprehended by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway during the month of September 2023. 

These arrests have also led to the recovery of stolen passenger possessions valued at approximately ₹13,23,885.

The RPF, as part of its routine checks and drives within the zone from September 17 to 28, 2023, successfully detected and apprehended 18 suspects involved in thefts of passenger property. 

Stations such as New Jalpaiguri, Lumding, Kishanganj, Dimapur, Jagiroad, New Bongaigaon, Barpeta Road, Hojai, and Guwahati were all part of this initiative.

One notable incident occurred on September 25, 2023, when the RPF team at Hojai Railway Station, during a routine check, apprehended three individuals and recovered six mobile phones valued at approximately ₹76,800, along with ₹5,400 in cash that had been stolen from passengers. 

The recovered items and the apprehended suspects were subsequently handed over to the Inspector in Charge of GRP, Hojai for further necessary legal proceedings.
