State Government revises the minimum rates of wages

 The Labour and Welfare Department, Assam has made a draft revision of the minimum rates of wages for the workers employed in loading and unloading operations in for any job in Assam. In addition to rate of wages fixed, the workers or employees will be entitled to Variable Dearness Allowances (VDA) to the extent of 100 % of the rise or fall of the index point in all India Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Industrial Workers. Rate of VDA will be revised every six months on the basis of change in CPI number during the intervening period. The revision proposal has been published and is open to suggestions or objections for two months (60 days). The workers or employees are entitled to a day of rest in every week as per existing provision under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948. Stay updated on the go with GPlus News.
