State Government Employees to Get Full Salary by April 9

GUWAHATI: State government employees will be given full salary by 9th April, informed state minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

He added that only 1 day's salary will be cut from all employees as donation towards relief fund. However, if anyone objects to the same, they will be reimbursed.

Sarma informed the media that the financial economy of the state is currently not stable with no tax being collected for the month of March.

"In such a scenario, other state governments have taken harsh measures such as deducting 50% salary but we haven't done anything of that sort. We only wish that our employees instead help the people in need," Sarma said.

There are approximately 5 lakh employees of the state government currently. If each one helps 5 families in their own capacity, 25 lakh families will benefit.

Sarma urged people to celebrate Bihu by helping the needy instead of partying.
