Stage Set For Counting Of 14 Lok Sabha Seats In Assam

 

GUWAHATI: Like the rest of the country, Assam is set for the counting of votes for 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in 52 counting centres spread across 50 election districts of the state on Tuesday.

A senior official of the CEO office said a total of 152 counting rooms will be operational, equipped with 1,941 counting tables for both postal ballots and EVMs. The counting process is expected to be completed in 10 to 28 rounds. But the constituencies like Jaleshwar and East Goalpara require a maximum of 28 rounds.


A total of 5,823 vote-counting officers have been appointed, supported by 64 general observers. The final results will be declared from multiple locations, including Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Guwahati, Udalguri, Nagaon, Diphu, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Karimganj, and Golaghat between 4 and 4:30 pm.

For Kamrup Metro Election District, the counting will be conducted at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre at Sarusajai here. There are 1,026 EVMs across five assembly segments in Kamrup Metro district under Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency- Dispur, dimoria, New Guwahati, Guwahati Central and Jalukbari.


There will be a total of 70 counting tables, 14 each for five constituencies. 10 counting tables have been kept for counting postal ballots.

The counting will be conducted in 16 rounds in Dispur LAC, 17 in Dimoria, 14 in New Guwahati, 14 in Guwahati Central and 15 rounds in Jalukbari assembly segment.
