Sonowal urges farmers to adopt scientific methods of farming

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday inaugurated the 4th Assam International Agri-Horticultural Show, 2017 organised by State Agriculture Department and Horticultural & Food Processing Department in association with Assam Agricultural University, Indian Chambers of Commerce and NABARD at College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara.   To enhance agricultural production in the state, and to use advanced scientific technologies for farming, Sonowal urged the farmers to adopt new scientific methods of farming for strengthening their economic condition.   He also lais enphasis on organic farming to maintain the ecological balance and to fulfil Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji’s vision of making North East India as an organic hub.   "We have also launched Chief Minister’s "Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana'' to double the farm economy in the State by investing Rs. 1.2 cr. in each revenue village. In the next five years, State Government will invest around Rs. 30,000 cr in 24,000 revenue villages of the State under this scheme," Sonowal said.   Stay updated on the go with GPlus News.
