The anti-corruption crusader, expressing his solidarity with the agitating farmers, is fasting at his native village of Ralegan siddhi of Maharashtra.

“I appeal to the citizens of this country that the farmers’ agitation at Delhi borders should spread across the country. The government needs to be pressured and for that to happen, farmers need to hit the streets. But no one should resort to violence,” Hazare said in support of the Bharat Bandh.

"I had backed this cause earlier also, and will continue to do so," he said.

The 83-year-old social activist has also urged the need to grant autonomy to the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) and to implement the recommendations of the MS Swaminathan Commission, which recommended for modernization of agriculture in India.
