GUWAHATI: The Guwahati police have apprehended a notorious drug trafficker attempting to smuggle cannabis in Uzan Bazar, on July 5.
Acting on a tip-off, the police caught the individual identified to be John Sarkar red-handed with a substantial quantity of contraband estimated to be around 30 kilograms of cannabis at Meghdoot Bhawan, where the alleged attempted to send it through a courier service.
As per police reports, the swift action and vigilance of Constable Nani Gopal Choudhury played a pivotal role in the arrest and the subsequent seizure of illicit substances.
Guwahati police also took to Twitter to put out, “City police arrested one John Sarkar of Uzan Bazar while he was caught red-handed with 30 kgs of cannabis at Meghdoot Bhawan when he was trying to courier it. Alertness of Const. Nani Gopal Choudhury helped police arrest the accused & confiscate the contraband.”
Further investigations are underway as the alleged has been taken into custody.
