GUWAHATI: Assam Police apprehended six Bangladeshi nationals on Thursday, November 13 in the Karimganj district, which shares a border with Bangladesh. The individuals—identified as Tarique Anowar, Dayal Mall, Monu Mall, Shajahan Mia, Jainab Sapuria, and Khalimur Mall—were detained based on reports of their unauthorised entry into India.

Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, acknowledged the action on X, stating, “Striking illegal infiltration—6 illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators were apprehended in Karimganj by @assampolice and sent back across the border.”
The Assam-Bangladesh border in Karimganj has faced challenges with cross-border movements due to its porous nature, raising security concerns for Indian authorities.
