GUWAHATI: Demanding resettlement of the evicted families from the Silasako Beel area in Guwahati, a protest demonstration was organised in the area on Wednesday by the members of the evicted families.
The protest demonstration was organised when DoHUA and Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal was present there at the inaugural ceremony of the Bioremediation Process at Silsako Beel and Demonstration on Diversion of Bahini Water to Silsako Beel.
Apart from resettlement, the protestors also urged the government to stop further eviction in the area.
"We are the indigenous people of this land and the government must stop such atrocities against us," a group of protesting women said as they tried to enter the inaugural ceremony venue.
The protestors also flashed placards with messages like "Stop Supporting Capitalist", "We Will Need Land", "BJP Go Back", "Bulldozer Politics Go Back", "Will Himanta Biswa Sarma Government Dismantle Ginger Hotel?" etc.
