Show-cause Notices Served To Agriculture Department, BJP For Violating MCC

GUWAHATI: The Office of the Executive Engineer (Agriculture), Kamrup division stands accused of flouting the rules of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) as a hoarding of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was found installed on the premises of the office at Ulubari, on April 9.

The incident unfolded when President of Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress Mira Borthakur went live on a social media platform to point out the audacity of the ruling party in disregarding the MCC.

"The hoarding on the premises of a government office shows how both the party and the department are totally going against the rules and regulations of the MCC. According to the guidelines, no party is allowed to put up any advertising material on properties of the government, but here even the employees of the department are being biased towards the BJP. It is difficult to understand whether it is a government office or a BJP office," Borthakur said.

Meanwhile, when GPlus tried to contact the district administration, an official replied, "The hoarding has been removed and show cause notices served to the violators."

However, Borthakur also alleged that BJP has been secretly distributing the 'Lakhpati Baideo' scheme and other scheme forms to electors, thus sabotaging all the norms put forward by the Election Commission of India.
