GUWAHATI: In the early hours of Friday, police from Gorchuk and Jalukbari Police Stations arrested eight individuals in connection with an alleged gang rape incident in Boragaon. The arrests followed a tip-off received at 2:30 AM from Dharmendra Kalita, a media professional, regarding a video circulating among Boragaon residents purportedly showing the crime.

Acting promptly, Inspector Mayurjit Gogoi and Sub-Inspector Kajal Dutta, along with the Gorchuk Police Station team, conducted extensive raids across multiple locations. Based on the video analysis, eight individuals were apprehended. They have been identified as Kuldeep Nath (23), son of Sabin Nath, a resident of Gakhirchowk, Boragaon; Bijoy Rabha (22), son of Kanak Rabha, residing at Shiv Nagar Path, Boragaon; Pinku Das (18), son of Rabin Das, residing at Nizarapar, Boragaon; Gagan Das (21), son of Ashu Das, also from Nizarapar, Boragaon; Saurav Boro (20), son of Durga Boro, from Bakul Nagar, Boragaon; Mrinal Rabha (19), son of Sanjib Rabha, from Pachim Boragaon, Nizarapar and Dipankar Mukhiya (21), son of late Deba Mukhiya, from Padumbari, Tetelia, and Rabin Das under Jalukbari PS jurisdiction.
The victim’s identity has not yet been established, and investigations are ongoing.
Police have assured that the case will be pursued with utmost urgency. Residents have demanded strict action against the accused. Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
