Saudi Reopens Haj Portal For 10,000 Indian Pilgrims After Indian Govt’s Intervention

GUWAHATI: India’s Ministry of Minority Affairs on Tuesday, April 15, announced that the Saudi Hajj Ministry has agreed to reopen the Haj (Nusuk) Portal for Combined Haj Group Operators (CHGOs) to accommodate 10,000 additional Indian pilgrims for Hajj 2025.

According to the ministry, the remaining quota was allocated to 26 CHGOs who failed to finalise key contracts for Mina camps, accommodation, and transportation within Saudi Arabia. Despite multiple reminders, these operators did not complete the required processes before the Saudi deadline.

Following diplomatic engagement, the Saudi authorities agreed to reopen the portal based on current availability in Mina. The ministry has issued urgent instructions to all CHGOs to expedite formalities without delay, ensuring the newly allocated quota is utilised promptly.

Under the central government’s Haj Policy 2025, 70 per cent of the country’s total Hajj quota is handled by the Haj Committee of India, while the remaining 30 per cent is assigned to private Haj Group Organisers. Saudi Arabia has allotted a total of 1,75,025 Hajj slots to India for 2025.

Hajj 2025 is expected to take place from June 4 to June 9, subject to the moon sighting marking the beginning of the month of Zil-Hajj.
