GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has decided to raise the salaries of Assistant Professors who are working on a Fixed Pay basis. The decision was taken in the State Cabinet Meeting held on October 19.
According to Assam a tweet by Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the monthly remuneration of Assistant Professors working on a Fixed Pay basis in provincialised colleges will be hiked to ₹55,000.
Academies, where the state government pays the salaries of the professors and the staff, are considered provincialised colleges. As per Assam Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, the monthly remuneration of 135 Assistant Professors who were working on a Fixed Pay basis of ₹21,000 and ₹8,000 in provincialised colleges has been increased to ₹55,000. These Assistant Professors will remain to work on a Fixed Pay basis, said Ranoj Pegu.
