GUWAHATI: To ease travel costs for middle-class and private car owners, the central government is reported to have set to introduce an ‘annual toll pass’ allowing unlimited access to National Highways for a one-time payment of ₹3,000.

The Ministry is also reported to issue a ‘lifetime pass’ for 15 years which will be available for ₹30,000.
As per reports, the proposal, currently at an advanced stage with the road transport ministry, could significantly reduce expenses for frequent highway users. Unlike existing monthly passes, which are limited to a single toll plaza and cost ₹340 per month (₹4,080 per year), the new scheme offers access across the entire NH network at a lower annual cost.
