GUWAHATI: Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika has declared that the state government will extend financial assistance of ₹1.10 lakh to all Self Help Groups (SHGs). The announcement was made on November 27 during a rally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Kalingduar in the newly formed No. 48 Tongla assembly constituency.
Minister Hazarika assured that 35,000 unemployed youths would secure more government jobs than initially promised. The Orunodoi scheme, aimed at providing financial assistance, was a key focus, with Hazarika assuring an increase in the scheme amount to ₹1450.
Furthermore, he pledged to bring 6 lakh new women under the ambit of the scheme, aligning with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's promises during the elections.
Minister Hazarika emphasised that the government aims to produce 3000 doctors annually in the state. Addressing flood control, Hazarika had announced an annual provision of ₹120 crore for flood control measures.
